wow… How did they achieve such effect?? Did they slow down the video? or does the animation appear like that when it’s speeded up? or when he cycles? I know that there is a video with similar style and in order to achieve the animation, they uses super fast flashlights to create them, which means the natural light is actually millions of flashlights!? Digging some old knowledge about lighting..
MERLIN IN WIRE
Andreas Deja, the talented Disney animator who was supervisor animator for iconic characters such as Jafar and Gaston, did this wire sculpture of Merlin a few years ago. Human subjects are usually difficult to balance, two legs aren’t enough to hold up a sculpture made out of wire. But the buttom of Merlin’s cloak helped to solve the problem.
I have finally finished my Illustration Animation Project - A retelling story of Red Riding Hood.
Directed and designed by Carolina Feng Chen
Music’s name: The Waltz of Flowers from The Nutcrackers (editted)
The animation brief was to recreate the story of Red Riding Hood.
In my animation, the two concepts are perfume and ballet.
The wolf perceives Red Riding Hood’s smell as she is shown as a thin stroke of colour red. Ballet represents their interaction, the wolf attracted to Redr while she plays around with the wolf.
In the end, the ending is sort of inspired by the ending scene of Swam Lake (starring Natalie Portman), when she turns into the black swam, you can sort of see a bit of wings coming out of his hands when he ‘howls’ at the moon.
Not forget to mention that I was intensively inspired by an amazing silhouette animator Lotte Reiniger.
Although I rushed a bit with this project, I actually enjoyed a lot in the process and have learned lot!
